FREE Medi-Rent Webinar: Introduction to compression pumps

Compression pumps are becoming more popular for the management of chronic and acute swelling. This session will guide participants through the basics of compression pump features, how they work, and safe use.

We will also cover medical conditions commonly treated with compression pumps and discuss selection between products on the market.

Key learning objectives:

  • Learn about Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) from the basic device features, indications, contraindications to treatment parameters.
  • Learn about assessment for determining clinical effect of SIPC and clinical reasoning for setting and progression of treatment parameters.

FREE Medi-Rent Webinar: Clinical application – which products, when?

Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) can be utilised safely to treat complicated mixed aetiology where arterial, venous and lymphatic pathologies may also be present. It can be confusing to decide which device and garments to use when. This session will provide guidance on the decision-making process for compression pump selection in relation to certain clinical presentations. Compression pump use for conditions such as: lymphoedema; lipoedema; vascular insufficiency; and arterial insufficiency will be covered.

Key learning objectives:

  • Learn about differences between compression pumps in the Medi-Rent fleet
  • Understand what compression pump features are required for various medical conditions and applications
  • Learn about SIPC prescription and treatment protocols for various conditions

Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) is an established treatment modality for lymphatic, venous, and arterial pathologies. The case study format of this session will demonstrate effective treatment protocols in a mixture of acute, chronic, and wounds presentations. The content will discuss safe prescription of SIPC, progression of settings, and transition to a maintenance phase of treatment.

Learn from the insights of a time-poor physiotherapy lymphoedema therapist on models of care using SIPC to improve therapy efficiency and patient outcomes. This presentation will take the form of multiple case studies relevant to therapists working in public health and private practice.

Key learning objectives:

  • Learn about strategies using SIPC to save clinical time, reduce patient costs, and alleviate the demand on public health systems.
  • Understand the clinical rationale of SIPC in the treatment of a range of presentations at various stages of disease
