Introduction to the use of Compression pumps for lymphoedema: An update on clinical recommendations and Medi-Rent product line changes

Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) is an established treatment modality for lymphoedema in clinical practice and home use settings. This session will guide participants through the basics of compression pump features, how they work, and safe use. With the recent expansion of the Medi-Rent SIPC product line, the content will also include a discussion on navigating the SIPC options for various clinical applications with respect to current clinical recommendations.

The format of this session includes case study presentation by Lymphoedema Practitioner Kate Perkins, demonstrating clinical application of the new generation pump.

Key learning objectives:

  • Learn about Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (SIPC) with respect to basic device features, indications, precautions and contraindications.
  • Understand the effect of treatment parameters on device function and the differences in devices and garments on the Medi-Rent product line. In doing so, learn how to choose an appropriate device and garment style for your clients.
  • Learn about assessment for determining clinical effect of SIPC and clinical reasoning for setting and progression of treatment parameters.
  • Experience SIPC – use the opportunity to try the compression pumps on within the session to understand the various settings.

Speaker: Kate Perkins, Lymphoedema Therapist

Platform: Face-to-face presentation at Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart.
